Matthew Pillsbury

Matthew Pillsbury also uses long exposures in his work.  He usually photographs interiors and has people move in the frame.  The ghostly images make a statement about the fleeting nature of each moment and our transitory presence in these environments.  There's also something sexual about some of these images, specifically the ones of people lying in bed together.  There's clearly a lot of movement in these pictures, but the blurs are too ambiguous for the viewer to be sure about what's really going on. The first one here is my favorite; something about it is really cinematic and intimate.
